This narrative can be added to whatever Johanna wrote previously.  From the hotel in Trieste it was 200 meters to the start of a bike trail made from an old RR bed.  We followed it for 4k and climbed quite a bit.  Then we left the trail and were on country rds downhill for a ways.  We got another RR bed and crossed into Slovenia pictured above.  We rode until we came to the town of Koper where we stopped and had lunch.  I had calamari and they pile it on.

After we left Koper we went along a promenade along the Adriatic

After the promenade we cycled along a highway with the sea to our right

This bike trail also allowed motorscooters and they caused a problem when they whizzed by J.  The trail didn't have any protection to Oceanside.  Get knocked off and a faceplant in the rocks

From the trail overlooking the town to the sea.

We had to climb a long hill, then drop off onto a steep cobblestone trail down to the Sea.  Here we caught a stone paved promenade about 4ft wide most of the way and still had the scooters whizzing by especially one bastard kid.  Back and forth.  I wanted to stick my arm out and clothesline him.  J walked her bike.  The trail got be 20' above the rocky beach without railing.  The pic above does show railing but is 50+' above the water.

At the end of the promanade was the Church San Giorgio.  This view was taken looking back to the town of Koper.

J finally got swim in the Adriatic.  There was no place to change so she hid behind a beached boat along the promenade.

We walked up the San Giorgio Church.  It's at a lands end point with views in all directions.

From Plaza at San Giorgio

From Plaza at San Giorgio.  From here we rode down to Piazza Tartini in Pirano, which led to a promenade and on to our hotel in Portoroz.  Along the way the scooter guy was running up and down scaring old tourists.   We stayed at the Hotel Luicija. Took showers and went out for more calamari .Turning in early for border crossing into Croatia tomorrow
