Scharniz, Austria Wednesday June 19 Gasthof Rissner

This morning we left Felix apartment and rode to the train station, lots of people on the bike path.
Felix and Nadine ride their bikes to work most days.
At the train station we had to learn to buy our ticket from the automat. We bought Bayern pass for 2 adults and two bikes 39.00 euros was all we had to pay. Got on the train with 6 other people with bikes, going to the same start the ISAR BIKE TRAIL. we had to change trains twice . it is not so easy to get the loaded bikes in and off the train, but everybody helps each other.
The train took us to Mittenwald via Garmish, beautiful views of the Zugspitze and the Karwendel und Wetterstein Alps. In Mittenwald we quickly found the bike trail and decided to ride to the source of the Isar. We rode across the border from Bavaria into Austria and found a room in  Scharniz, anloaded our paniers and started to the Isar Ursprung (the start of the river) It was another ride of uphills, well we are in the alpsOn and on the trail went along the beautiful glacial river. we finally arrived at the source and decided to ride another 2 km to Kastenalm. we were very thirsty and bought
some very delicious milk and than some beer.
the ride back was mostly downhill and soon we were back in Scharniz and our lodging. Had spinach dumplings , tirol specialty.
There are quite a few mounItain bikers down stairs in the beergarten having a good time, but we are turning in. I can hear Mac snoring.
But today's ride was really special.
more to come tomorrow
