Left home on the 7th for munich and stayed at Felix and Nadine, felix met us at the station and we rode the bikes through some heavy munich traffic with the tram right behind us, but we made it and presto were on the bike path to his place. waited for Nadine und all went to the viktualien market beer garden after felix cooked wonderful white spargel with homemade hollandaise for us.
left early on the 8th to venice-mestre. arrived in early afternoon, checked in hotel then took a bus to venice and walked as far as the grand canal, but had to be back to get the bikes at 6.00 pm. got bikes, maps ect. went to a square not far from hotel had great pizza, mac had red wine I had spritz(wine soda water and camparie) liked it very much, turned in and came down with mac's cold, but not bad.
When we got to Venice we took the wrong bridge into the city. There are several ways to get to San Marks square. I thought we were on one trail and we weren't. Finally after crossing the grand Canal I sat down and figured out where we actually. We needed to get back so we backtracked toward the bus and had a gellatto on the way. On the bus ride back I was looking on how we might ride to the ferry we had to take in the morning. But I was stumped. Nothing looked good. We'll see after the meeting with the outfitters. The pics below are just a smattering of what we saw. I suggest you go to Google earth and the probably have a ground view and better pics then we took and more of them. In a week we will be back and have a full day+ to spend on the island. We will do better then.
morning of 9th
had breakfast and getting ready for ride.just met some nice ladies from Norway also doing same ride we will meet on the way more pics and blog tonight.
