Everybody had to be at the Croat border at the same time as the luggage came thru in case the agents wanted to check.  This was the first time everybody had been together since the pre trip meeting in Mestre.  It was 9k from the hotel so we had to get an early start.   After the border crossing it was a short level until the hills started.  to add to the hill it was hot.

Stopping point on the hill.  From here we could ride

The stragglers

After the hill and a few k we came to the town of Buje.  We all took a break and had lots of water at the square.  Here the money is Kunas.  But it was the first time since Germany that my ATM worked.  I drew out 300 Kunas but that turned out to just cover the drinks and lunch later in Novigrad.  After the break we went up the hill to the Church St. Servul pictured above.

The harbor at Novigrad.  This was a cute little village but didn't get enough pics of it.  We did stop along the harbor and have lunch.  We had calamari again.   After leaving here we had another walking hill, followed by a riding climb and then rolling hills until we got to Porec.

This is where we parted company with Linda and Ed a pair of Canadians.  They had wanted to follow us on this leg.  We had run into Ed on the 2nd leg when he had lost his wife.  He borrowed our phone and called her.  Somehow she had passed him and was at the next hotel.   Linda wanted to get to the hotel and shower.  It had been a 55k hot ride with some good hills.  We rode on into old town and rode the promenade around the old town.  As usual J wanted a gelato so we did.  After that we rode to the hotel. After cleaning up we rode back to old town and had dinner with Ed and Linda.

High end hotel on an island in the bay.  Not ours

Little house in old town Porec.  In the harbor the were a lot of yachts.  There are a lot of people with a lot of money around here.  Probably Russian Mafia.
