We spent yesterday taking it easy at Felix's apartment. catching up on blogging, laundry and packing our bike bags, had lunch at the nearby Loewenbraeu biergarten.
When
Felix and Nadine returned from work we all got on the bikes and rode to another beer garten
called Hirschgarten , it is huge and it was packed with people, everyone enjoying the warm evening after all the rain. it is pretty warm here right now, but thunder storms are in the forcast. at the beergarten we met my niece Diana who also lives in Munich.
In this beergarten you fetch your own stein rinse it and stand in line for beer. tourists who don't know this stand in line and then no stein no beer. They have a truck and 2 guys drives around collecting the steins, then take them to an outdoor washing area and after washing stack them. You then pick up a stein and rinse it in cold water as they are still hot from the washing. Then go stand in line.
we stayed till dark . it was after 10.30 when we left on the bikes and stopped at a gelateria for some really good gelato.
Munich is a bike friendly city with bike trails to every were with bike crossing signals .
today we are leaving by train to Mittenwald to ride back to munich on the isar river bike trail.
