July 12 in Palmanova Italy this is mac writing

The room we had in Porto Gruaro was the best we've had in Europe.  It was overlooking the river and had a floor to ceiling window 20 ft wide.  That was the bedroom.  Then there was a large sitting room and a big bathroom with double sinks.  I would have spent another day there.  The breakfast was good also.  When we left on the ride to Palmanova we started in the town center of Porto Gruaro.  The way was not evident so a couple of Italians stopped and looked at our maps, then they took us to their house and the man got his bike and we followed him to a place on the trail where there was a marker.  He then rode back to his house.  We rode a ways with a couple from the bay area, who are on their honeymoon.  The ride itself today wasn't that good.  Mostly just riding on farm lanes thru fram land.  There weren't any interesting villages to go thru.  We did stop at one place and have bruchetta and some beer.  We got into Palmanova around 4PM and got a room and then J wanted a galato so we wandered around the square till we found a shop which wasn't hard as there were about 15 of them.  The town was laid out in a 9 point star shape.  Try looking at it from Google Earth.  It's a walled city with a moat around it.
