We left Mengen in the rain.  There was a stork in a nest above the church but he had left before J got out an got a picture.  More on storks in a later post.  Everything was going good until we got our first flat on J's bike.  I got the tube out but couldn't find the hole so after cussing awhile I took the tube and rode back on the trail until I found a puddle deep enough to find the leak.  I finally got a patch to hold after several attempts and rode back to J and got the bike back together.  We rode to Riedlingen to bike shop which was closed for lunch so we rode into the town center and looked at the fachwerk and the staircase and had eis on the plaza.  We got a new rear tire and tube and a spare tube at the bike shop.  We rode on to Rechtenstein past the Hohwart castle ruins and to the Kloister at Obermarchtal.  The church contains some of most beautiful examples of German Baroque stucco church decorations of the Wassobrunner school.  Marie Antonnette slept there.   Get a google earth pic of the place.  It's  really big.  We never got to the inner courtyard.  After the church we rode to Ehingen and got a room at the gesthaus Rossle.  As far we could tell we were only ones there although when J called they said they had one room left.  That has happened before.
