August  6 2015

Today we rode along the Tauber on rolling trails until we got to Rothenburg.  There we had to climb out of the valley.  My bike felt like it had some grating noise in the crank so we went by a bike shop and had them check it out.  Largely it was a dry chain and the guy lubed and we were on our way back on the Romantische Strasse.  We went thru rolling hills along fields and thru some forests until we had to climb up to Schillingsfurst.  We both had to push for a little while.  When we got into town we stopped at a bakery and got water and apfelschorle  We drank 3 liters I think.  This where we met Felix, a border Terrier.  He was riding a trailer behind a bike and his group stopped at the same place we did.

After the stop we rode on to Feuchtwangen( my mouth doesn't work well enough to say it right).  We got a room at the Hotel Ambiante, cleaned up and went into the Old Town.  The Church was started as a monastery in 816 by Charlemange.   The town became an Imperial Free City in 1132.  It kept its medieval character because it was never destroyed in the 30 year war, the peasant war or WW11.

We had a nice dinner along the square.  The waiter had us put copper coins on the table to keep the wasps away and it seemed to work.  It was the first we had ever heard about that idea.  After dinner we walked around the square.  People were gathering for a function  in the theater.
Road hazzards

Rothenburg from the Tauber valley.  If you care there are posts from 2 years ago about the section we have just rode and the town of Rothenburg.  Thereare more varied pics then what we posted on this trip

The bike trail comes in varied shapes and sizes.  This section was made of paving stone and a lot of them.
