Replica of a Roman wine ship
We left our BandB and were on the trail at 9:15. We crossed the river at Reil and passed many little wine villages along the river. At Traben Trabach the river forms a perfect bow called the Mosel Schleife. We passed Kroev and stopped in BernKastel for federweisen break and checked out the town. It was packed with tourists off cruise boats that were anchored there. We got back on the trail, thru the vineyards to Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine town in Germany. It is also famous for the Roman wine ship that was found there along with other roman relics. Checked into the very romantic looking Hotel Anker right along the trail. Dinner, internet, blog writing and bed. |
