Sept. 27 2014 Kobern-Gondorf to Klotten.

We leave our Inn in blue sky and sunshine. We have a reservation at a private pension in Klotten not far away, because we want to spend some time visiting one of the most beautiful castles on the Mosel
Burg Eltz.We stop in the village of Moselkern, park the bikes and Mac, who is not going to hike up with us. We find a little cafe by the river for Mac  and we are on our way to the castle. It is one of the most beautiful along the Mosel. The trail follows the little stream called Eltz and takes us up through an enchanted forest to the steps that lead to the castle. It really turns out to be a fairy tale castle from the 13th century and is still owned and lived in by the same aristocratic family.
We signed up for an English tour, so we could see the inside of the castle.

After our visit to the castle we are hiking back down the trail, only to almost get run over by some older mountain bikers. So I had to really get mad at them in and use some german cuss words to tell them that they were after all on a hiking trail. At the trail head we stopped for of course for some Federweisen and than caught up with mac at the river.
We arrived in the village of Klotten were we had a reservation at a bed and bike private house with Mr.and Mrs. Bertram. Mr. Bertram came down the hill on his bike to show us the way to the place.
They turned out to be very friendly hosts. We had the upstairs apartment 2 rooms with balcony and shared bath and wc.24.00 euros per person including breakfast.
Went out to dinner at Gasthof zur Linde, cant remember what everyone ate. Food was not great there, but the wine from the Mosel was good.
