5 people and 5 bikes.from the Main to the Mosel. We took the train to Frankfurt No problem getting all the bikes on the train and changing in Wuerzburg. Arriving in Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof we were
overwhelmed by all the traffic, but soon got direction to the bike trail We had planned to visit the center of town to see the Dom and Roemerberg, but two of the women had trouble with their panniers. They had not listen to mac to check out their equipment. So an hour was spent to fit the panniers to the bikes. So decided to get underway to our first lodging in Mainz. We stopped .at the confluence of The Main into the Rhine.From here the boats go up the Main River and are able to reach the Danube via Main-Donau-Kanal and the Black Sea.
Now we are following the Rhine to our Youth Hostel in Mainz. The Ladies had a pretty nice room, but oh weh Mac and I had a tiny one with bunks, but we did have a private shower and WC. The price was right,only 27 euros including breakfast. We were to late for Dinner,but the snack bar served beer, wine and flamkuchen and pizza.
Okay, we had checked out our rental bikes like Mac had warned but we never got any instructions to check the panniers too...
