Venzone to Udine
Our stay at the Laconda di Muncipio was delightful. After touring the town and learning more about the terrible earthquake, (terra motto) in 1976, we began our way to the south on the Val Canale, an old converted rail track along the river Tagliamento. We went through so many tunnels, we lost track. The views were of the Karavanke, Carnic and Julien Alps. We reached Udine after 68 kms of pedaling. We found our way to the info point after getting lost several times. At the Info Point, the employee called and reserved us a room at the Friuli Hotel. Udine is a city of 100,000 with lots of tourists and traffic. We ate at the Osteria Alla Gaiccicia and the food was not spectacular but sitting outside on the river was divine. Dessert was the best.
