Friday August 15th 2014 Innichen (San Candido.)

We left our nice hotel Weisse Lilie in Muehlbach (Rio di Pusteria) after breakfast, stopped in the little chapel to light candles and prayers for Leif.

We rode along the river Rienz and arrived in Bruneck (Brunico) just at it started raining again. Climbed up to Schloss Bruneck to visit Reinhold Messner"s Museum on Live of Mountain people all over the world. And Messner happened to be there himself, it was very exciting for me to actually meet him. Mike Sutton went up there with me.
Mac stayed down in the little village of Bruneck, it started raining again and we decided to stay there.
Found out about a 150 year celebration of the volunteer Fire Department. The band was playing, the members all dressed in tratitional I
Tirolien clothing, there was was great food and drink of the region.
A big tent had been put up with tables and benches, it soon was packed..We stayed till 9.00 p.m until the band left. There was lots of other stuff going on.Several Buskers played in town also and there were stands with delicious food and wine being sold. This went on till around midnight .lots of people in the streets
We had rooms at the hotel Adler at 51.00 euros per person with breakfast right in town.A bit more expensive, but we are in a tourist area. and it is what it is.
We left Bruneck this morning. It was not raining, the rain comes in the afternoon for a few hours anf than stops. We picketup the the Drau or Drava River bike trail in Toblach (dobacio) passed a bike trail up to Cortina, only 28 miles away (really wanted to up there) but by than it was raining pretty hard, so kept going to Innichen (San Candido) were we are staying at Hotel Walter more expensive at 61,oo with breakfast. Its a Catholic holyday (Maria Himmelfahrt) so 3 day holiday and was not easy to find lodging.
Now 5.00 pm the sun is coming out and the mountains are spectacular.
