August18th Spittal to Rosseck via Villach

It was another nice morning when we left our Hotel Brueckenwirt in Spittal, since leaving the more tourist aereas of Lienz the lodging has become more economical 35.oo per person with breakfast.
We rode on to Villach, where we stopped for lunch. We took a walking tour and soon got back onto the trail. We are now in the Karawanken, a mountain chain that devides Carinthia from Slowenia.
In 1918 to 1920 war was fought by the two countries to annex Carinthia to Slowenia, but in 1920 it came to a vote and Carinthia voted to stay Austrian. There are many war memorials along the way.
Our Goal for the day was the little village of Rosseck in the Rosental. We found lodgeing at Rossenecker Hof 35.00 with breakfast.After dinner we rodearound the village and viewed the Castle Rosseck.
