Aug 1 2013 Wertheim to Dittigheim

This is the trail we will be following.  There are actually 2 Tauber trails but the other is the "sport" trail and is very hilly.  I said "no way are we doing the hilly one". The trail is in the forest and follows the river fairly close and we went thru 3 villages before coming to the Kloster Bronnbach

The Kloster Bronnbach was started in the mid 1100s by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux.  He was a Cistercian, an offshoot of the Benedictines.  The Cistercians have the winemaking Abby in Vina Ca. which is called New Clairvaux .  Google Earth the Kloster and get more pictures of it.

Johanna asking a local statute for directions

A herb garden in the foreground and the gestehaus in the background

A rain gutter on the gestehaus.  These are quite common and take a lot of different forms from serpents to devils to animals

After leaving the kloster we go thru a village and get a pic of Johanna with 2 things commonly found in German towns, the fountain and the biergarten sign.  The day ended up hot and we stopped for a beer and some lunch.  I had a beer which was a mistake.  We rode to Tauberbischofsheim and J wanted to go to the Landschaftsmuseum but I found some grass and took a nap.  She later woke me up and we rode on to Dettigheim got a room at the Gruner Baum Gestehaus.
